The zodiac sheep of the New Year, pared down to a plump, gentle little form. It stands square on four short legs, its body rounded almost to an egg to suggest the deep pile of a fleece, a single soft fold drawn at the neck, and a pair of spiral horns curled tight against the sides of the head — the ram's one flourish on an otherwise quiet shape. The face is barely drawn, the eyes all but closed, so the whole animal reads as calm and mild.
